Based on an interferometric
method, Apex Technologies
ultra high resolution optical spectrum analyzer combines resolution (20MHz),
wavelength accuracy (+/-3pm) and dynamic range. This is in contrast
with some of the best conventional grating based optical spectrum analyzer
on
the market today, which have a physically limited maximum resolution
of 10pm.

The patented method of Apex Technologies
complex spectrum analyzers is designed for short pulses, chirp and phase
measurements up to 640Gb/s. The principle is based upon the spectrum analysis of
the optical field during which the amplitude and relative phase of each
spectral components of a modulated
signal are analyzed.
By knowing the amplitude and phase of each spectral
component, the temporal variations of intensity and phase
are calculated by means of fourrier transform and displayed by the instrument.
