10Gb/sTRC measurement

Details on the measured signal :

This is a 10Gb/s NRZ modulation realized on a LiNbO3 MZI modulator driven by a 10Gb/s pulse pattern generator sending a 4bits pattern (1 1 1 0). The blue trace represents the intensity modulation (pulse) and the red trace represents the time resolved chirp (in GHz).

AP2440A benefits :

Time resolved chirp (TRC) is a key parameter for high speed transmission optimization and an accurate measurement of this parameter becomes very important for 10Gb/s and higher speeds.
Methods using frequency discrimination (Mach-Zhender interferometer method or optical gating with optical spectrum analyzer method) are usually proposed for low speed TRC measurement (up to 2.5Gb/s). But for higher bit rates this method, converting the frequency variation into time variations, is bandwith limited. Moreover, repeatability of this method do not permits to measure TRC accurately.

The AP2440A is not using this frequency discrimination method and therefore is not bandwidth limited. 10Gb/s but also 40Gb/s 160Gb/s and 640Gb/s TRC can be characterized with the best accuracy and the best repeatability of the market.

The AP2440A is the best solution for modulators (MZI, EAM, ...) and directly modulated lasers TRC characterization.
