Details on the measured signal :

The AP2440A can measure optical spectra with a maximum resolution of 0.16pm! In the example above we measured the optical spectrum of a 10Gb/s PRBS (2exp31 -1) of a NRZ modulation <blue trace> and the spectrum of a 10Gb/s PRBS (2exp31 -1) of a Duobinary modulation<red trace>.

AP2440A benefits :

Due to the AP2440A ultra high resolution, we can now measure accurately the modulation spectral efficiency which can not be achieved with a standard standard grating based OSA.

This ultra high resolution provides a highly accurate analysis of the modulated spectrum and provides the necessary details to determine system qualification.

Technical information on the ultra high resolution optical spectrum analyzers :

While monochromator based Optical Spectrum Analyzers can achieve a maximum resolution of 10pm, the Apex Technologuies ultra high resolution optical spectrum analyzers are based on an intereferometric principle which is able to dramatically increase this resolution by a factor 62, achieving a 0.16pm resolution (20MHz) at an absolute wavelength accuracy of +/-3pm and a close-in dynamic range of 60dB at 10pm.
